Peter DeGeorge Family Foundation Scholarship Program

The Peter DeGeorge Family Foundation Scholarship Program will offer current campers and alumni of Eluna’s bereavement program, Camp Erin, the opportunity to receive financial support in the form of educational scholarships. The awarded applicant will receive an educational scholarship in the amount of $3,000.

To qualify, applicants must be:

  • A current or former Camp Erin camper
  • A high school senior that is graduating in 2024 or current student in a post-high school program
  • Planning to attend a 2- or 4-year college/university or vocational/technical school

Eluna Trustees Legacy Fund Scholarship Program founded by Susan and Erik Hansen

The Eluna Trustees Legacy Fund Scholarship Program, founded by Susan and Erik Hansen, will offer alumni, junior counselors, and mentors that are alumni of Eluna’s addiction prevention and mentoring program, Camp Mariposa, the opportunity to receive financial support in the form of educational scholarships. The awarded applicant will receive an educational scholarship in the amount of $3,000.

To qualify, applicants must be:

  • An alum of Camp Mariposa
  • A high school senior that is graduating in 2024 or current student in a post-high school program
  • Planning to attend a 2- or 4-year college/university or vocational/technical school

The Team Jesse Scholarship Program funded by the Ronald A. Mincio Education Fund

As part of the Ronald A. Mincio Education Fund, the Team Jesse Scholarship is awarded annually to a Camp Erin or Camp Mariposa camp alumnus/a with a military affiliation in the amount of $3,000. 

Team Jesse extends outreach to military families dealing with the grief of losing a loved one and to those experiencing the loss felt when a family member is impacted by the disease of addiction. A partner of Eluna since 2012, Team Jesse was created to honor the legacy of SSG Jesse Williams who was killed in action on April 8, 2007 in, Iraq, leaving behind a young daughter, Amaya. 

To qualify, applicants must be:

  •  A current or former Camp Erin camper or an alum of Camp Mariposa
  • A high school senior that is graduating in 2024 or current student in a post-high school program
  • Planning to attend a 2- or 4-year college/university or vocational/technical school
  • Have a household member who has served or is currently serving in the military

How to Apply

To apply, please fill out the application form. Please note we ask applicants to apply for only one scholarship opportunity per year. All applicants must also provide a letter of recommendation from someone who is not a relative or legal guardian. The author of the recommendation should be someone who has had a positive influence on helping the applicant learn positive coping skills or resilience in the face of grief or substance use disorder in the family. This may be a teacher, tutor, community leader, school administrator, or camp employee/volunteer who knows you personally and can speak to your accomplishments and journey.

Scholarship awardees will be encouraged to publicly share their personal story and may be asked to represent Eluna at local, virtual and/or national events.

  • What is the amount of the scholarship?
    • Three scholarships will be awarded, each in the amount of $3,000 to be used toward educational expenses.
  • What is the timeline for the awarded scholarship?
    • Applications are due on June 14, 2024. Awardees will be announced in July 2024.
  • What if I am not attending a college or university?
    • Awarded scholarship can be used for vocational or technical school, but must be used towards approved educational expenses.
  • What expenses will Eluna’s scholarship cover?
    • Tuition, books, or other educational expenses. Scholarships will be paid directly to the Bursar’s Office (or equivalent).
  • I attended camp a couple years ago, am I still eligible to apply?
    • Absolutely! We encourage all camp alumni to apply.
  • How do you define household member for the Team Jesse Scholarship?
    • We define “household member(s)” as the following: parent, grandparent, caregiver, or sibling.
  • Can I reapply if I applied before and received a scholarship?
    • Yes, you may reapply as long as you meet all the other eligibility criteria.
  • Can I submit more than one scholarship application during the 2024 scholarship program year?
    • We ask applicants to apply for only one scholarship opportunity per year. 
  • I attend/attended camp in Canada, and/or I live in Canada. Can I still apply for a scholarship since I’m located outside of the United States?
    • Yes, you can still apply for a scholarship! Scholarships will be paid directly to the Bursar’s Office (or equivalent), and the awarded amount will be in USD currency.
  • Can I preview the essay questions?
    • Applicants will be required to answer short essay questions, found in the application form. A full list of essay questions can be found here.
